Lea, as Rosie knows her
On Lea's windowsill sits a small, lopsided blue bowl from her very first pottery class, and she will cheerfully tell you it is the finest thing she owns. That is Lea all over: sweet, unpretentious, delighted by anything made by hand.
She is petite, 161 cm, and her auburn hair falls in long, loose waves that catch copper in lamplight; the eyes are hazel, the skin still faintly sun-kissed well into October. She dresses in soft, romantic pieces, a blush slip under a cream cardigan, ballet flats for the mews and a small heel for the hotel bar.
Spontaneous and quietly funny, she is in her early twenties and tends to make people fall a little in love with her enthusiasm. Her English speeds up when she is excited, which is often. Interior design is the passion: she notices the cornicing, the wallpaper, the one lamp that spoils an otherwise lovely room, and she will redesign your suite in a sentence. Theatre is the treat, anything from a new play in a studio space to a grand musical, and ceramics fill her Sundays.
As a local she knows every mews and shortcut between the squares. Her favourite late afternoon ends at Pantechnicon on Motcomb Street, lingering over the hand-thrown ceramics downstairs before climbing to the roof garden for a drink while the light fades over the chimney pots. From there she might suggest a play at the Royal Court, or simply drift home through the squares to wherever you are staying.

How Lea likes an evening to go
Lea's perfect evening feels like a string of small, happy surprises. She might meet you in a hotel lobby and immediately name the chandelier she would replace, then slip her arm through yours for the stroll to Motcomb Street, where she knows the shop that sells hand-thrown mugs in improbable colours. There may be a play at the Royal Court, which she reviews on the pavement afterwards with great seriousness before undercutting herself with a giggle. Supper is something light, with plenty of time to describe the flat she would design if money were no object. Later, shoes off and legs tucked beneath her on the sofa, she asks you to describe your dream house room by room, and improves every one of them.
