Nora, as Rosie knows her
Nora sketches dresses on hotel notepaper, quick confident lines of a neckline or a sleeve, and more often than not she leaves the drawing behind for you to find. Her own look is sun-kissed resort glamour, a silk shirt knotted at the waist over wide trousers, gold sandals, a scatter of freckles across the nose. The hair is honey blonde and long; the eyes are hazel and seem to smile a fraction before she does; the build is athletic, 166 cm of it, from years of long walks and early starts.
Spirited and adventurous, quick to laugh and quicker to propose a better plan, Nora is very good company. Mid twenties, lively in her English and expressive with her hands, she lights up when fashion comes up; she can explain exactly why one coat drapes beautifully and another does not. For celebrations it has to be champagne, and she knows the small growers as well as the grand houses. Flowers are the other love, and they come with a standing weekly habit that begins before dawn.
That habit is the New Covent Garden Flower Market at Nine Elms, over the river from Pimlico, where she fills her arms with whatever the growers are proudest of that week. On an evening with her a single stem may well appear for your room, and she likes to begin with a glass of champagne on the Battersea side of Chelsea Bridge before crossing back into SW1 as the lights come on along the water.
Based in Paddington, Nora travels easily to Chelsea Bridge and every hotel in SW1. Her hour starts at £400; for a longer evening, message Rosie through booking.
In brief
Off duty: fashion design, grower champagne, the dawn flower market
Stands 166 cm, athletic
Hair honey blonde and long; eyes hazel
In her mid twenties
Home: Paddington
Nora loves an evening that opens with a toast, so ninety minutes at £600 is her shortest booking and the dinner date at £1,300 her favourite. For a special occasion she will gladly bring flowers.
How Nora likes an evening to go
Nora's evenings tend to begin with a small ceremony. She might arrive with a single peony or a sprig of something scented from the market, stand it in a hotel tumbler and declare the room officially improved. Then a bottle of champagne, chosen carefully and poured slowly, with a toast to something absurdly specific, such as the first good sleeve she ever sewed. Conversation runs from fashion to travel to the best view of the river at sunset, which she swears is from the middle of Chelsea Bridge. Dinner is lively, and she will sketch on the back of the menu if something catches her eye. At the end of the night the drawing is left on your bedside table, signed with a tiny flower.
Asked and answered, by Nora
3 questions guests often put to Nora before a first evening.
A coat with a very long collar that can be worn three ways. I have made four versions, and the fifth might finally be right.
Both, but the small growers win on a quiet evening. They taste of a place and a person, not a marketing department.
Something scented but never overpowering. Garden roses in June, tuberose in late summer, and never lilies, because the pollen gets everywhere.
