Luna, as Rosie knows her
Luna books her theatre tickets months in advance and has never once missed curtain up. That is the sort of woman she is: independent, decisive, a step ahead of the evening. The hair is a dark auburn that flashes red under stage lights and falls long past her shoulders; the eyes are brown and lined with care; the figure is curvy at 171 cm. Her glamour is bold and modern, all sharp tailoring, bare shoulders and a single statement earring.
Independence suits her. Luna is in her early twenties, self-possessed and at her best with company that can keep up. Her English is crisp and expressive, and she rarely hesitates to share an opinion. Wine tasting is her serious hobby; photography, mostly portraits of strangers in stations and markets, her creative outlet; theatre her greatest passion. She reads the reviews only after she has seen a play, so she can argue with them properly.
In Victoria she heads for the Victoria Palace Theatre, a short walk from the station, choosing seats close enough to watch the actors breathe. Before the show, a glass of something picked with care; in the interval, a fierce and funny critique of the first act; after the curtain, a late supper and a long debate about whether the ending worked. How Luna likes an evening to go
Luna's evenings have a dramatic arc, and she enjoys playing both director and critic. She arrives exactly on time, often in something black and tailored, holding two tickets and a firm opinion on the playwright. Before curtain up there is a glass of wine chosen for its character rather than its label, and she wants to know what you expect of the play. In the interval she reads the audience as closely as the stage, and points out the couple she suspects are on a first date. After the final bow comes a late supper nearby, where the real performance begins: a lively debate about the ending, which she will win. By midnight she is relaxed and warm, heels kicked off, the argument forgotten.
