Slim and slender: ten women sorted by what they carry, from novels to film cameras
A slim frame is the one tailoring flatters most, and the windows along Sloane Street seem to be dressed with it in mind. Ten women in the edit are slim or slender, measuring between 163 and 178 cm, with hair from blonde to black and ages from their early twenties to their thirties.
What no plate can show is how each of them spends her free hours, and that is where the ten divide most clearly. So we have sorted them by what they tend to carry, which says more about an evening with each than any measurement could.

Liana, chestnut haired and calm, reads French novels in translation and tends a small balcony garden with the patience she gives a long book. Vanessa, sandy balayage and hazel eyes, keeps a notebook of words English never got round to inventing. Violetta, the tallest at 178 cm, cannot walk past a bookshop, and Patricia, auburn brown and 172 cm, buys her books secondhand and fills watercolour pads with the squares near her Belgravia home. Karolina plays the piano and follows the opera closely. Margo, in her early thirties, plays late into the night and seems to think partly in music. Samanta, 174 cm with sleek dark hair, carries a violinist's poise and an enthusiast's eye for well designed hotels. Take one of the three to a concert at the Royal Albert Hall and she will hear things in it you missed.
Lenses, charts and lines
Cindy is the fair one of the three, blue eyed, and her free hours go to sailing, yoga and rolls of film. Stacy, 176 cm with near-black hair, carries a camera for street photography and has a comedian's timing of her own. Lucy, 163 cm and curly haired, charts the night sky and runs along the river in Pimlico. These three are the ones to ask for when you would like the evening to wander a little.
An afternoon on Sloane Street
The slender set is a natural choice for an afternoon along Sloane Street, where a companion with a good eye and an honest opinion is worth more than any personal shopper. Cindy and Stacy will tell you what photographs well, Samanta and Vanessa what travels well, and Violetta, very gently, what does not suit you at all.
