Danielle, as Rosie knows her
If Danielle were a film, it would be shot in black and white and run a little longer than the studio wanted. She has that kind of presence. Her hair is black and falls long and straight past her shoulders, her eyes are the darkest brown, and her figure, curvy at 170 cm, suits a tailored coat worn closed to the throat. She carries a stillness that makes a busy room seem to lower its voice, and a perfume so discreet it registers only when she tilts her head towards you mid sentence.
Nothing seems to hurry her, least of all a conversation. Now in her late twenties, she speaks a low, measured English that reads as an invitation to slow down alongside her. Old films come before everything; she can discuss a single close-up for ten minutes and make it sound like gossip. Poetry runs a close second, read aloud at home and quoted sparingly in company. Free mornings go to the museums of South Kensington, usually one room at a time.
In Knightsbridge her evenings begin in the Blue Bar at The Berkeley, where the pale Lutyens blue and the low light might have been designed around her. She chooses the quietest corner, orders something classic and stirred, and asks which film you would take to a desert island. The answer interests her less than your reasoning. The walk along Wilton Place afterwards is taken slowly, because London at night is when she likes it best.
From her South Kensington flat, Knightsbridge and the heart of SW1 are a short cab ride away. She is away for a few days; every duration is listed on the rates page, and Rosie will gladly pencil in an evening for her return.

How Danielle likes an evening to go
Danielle treats an evening like a well edited film: a strong opening, no wasted scenes, and an ending that stays with you. She might begin with the last screening of the week at a small cinema nearby, slipping in just before the lights go down so you are both spared the trailers. Afterwards comes a drink in a dim bar with deep chairs, where she asks which scene you will still remember tomorrow and then tells you hers. Supper, if there is supper, is simple and late. Somewhere along the way she may recite four lines of a poem she loves, softly and without ceremony, then change the subject before you can make a fuss of it. By midnight the garden squares of Belgravia are locked and silent, and she is in no hurry whatsoever.
Asked and answered, by Danielle
3 questions guests often put to Danielle before a first evening.
Something short and black and white, with more silence than dialogue. You learn a great deal about a person from the way they sit through a quiet scene.
Several, and nobody will ever see them. Reading other people's poems aloud is my real pleasure, and I only do it for people I like.
Whichever one is empty. I will stand in front of one painting for half an hour and leave the rest for another visit.
